Call for Sessions open!

CALL FOR SESSIONS

Extended Submission Deadline: Sunday, 30 January 2022

Dear Colleagues,

The  Annual Conference of the the Deutsche Mineralogische Gesellschaft (DMG – The German Mineralogical Society) and the Deutsche Geologische Gesellschaft – Geologische Vereinigung (DGGV – The German Geological Society) will be held 11–15 September 2022 at the University of Cologne, Germany.

The scientific committee identified the following themes:

1.    Mineralogy in the 21st Century: From Geological Processes to Crystallography and New Materials

2.    Early Evolution of the Earth and the Solar System: Building Habitable Worlds

3.    Dynamics of the Deep Earth: From the Core and Mantle to Continents

4.    Plate Tectonics and Orogenic Processes

5.    The Earth System and Global Change

6.    Earth Surface Processes and Sedimentology

7.    Keys to Biosphere Dynamics: Geobiology and Paleontology

8.    The Human Footprint: Applied and Environmental Geosciences & Archeometry

9.    Energy, Materials, Resources

10.  Outreach, Education, and Geosciences in Society

11.  Open Sessions

We are now inviting the DMG, DGGV, geoscience communities, and all other interested parties to submit suggestions for sessions and to distribute this Call for Sessions across their networks.

You are kindly invited to submit a session. Please

• provide a title, a list of minimum 2 conveners and contact information, and a short description of the session (max. 250 words).
• select the appropriate theme for this session.
• keynote speakers can be suggested but this is not obligatory. (incl. contact data, working title for lecture and brief explanation why you have chosen this speaker; travel expenses will probably be covered (in planning, not yet guaranteed).

The list of accepted sessions is expected to be finalized in early 2022 followed by the Call for Abstracts in the beginning of 2022.
