Field Trips

Please note:

• Your field trip booking shall only be valid if both your conference and your excursion fee have been paid into the conference account in full.
• If you are interested in taking part in a field trip that already is fully booked, please contact the conference secretary in order to get on the waiting list.
• In case that you have to cancel your participation in a field trip, please let the conference secretary know at the soonest. There may be other conference delegates on the waiting list for this field trip.
• If we have to cancel a field trip because there are too few participants, we will inform you per e-mail ASAP, and the excursion fee will be refunded fully.

Field Trip 1: Neotectonics of the Lower Rhine Graben (LRG)

Date: Friday, 16 September 2022

Time: Departure at 9 h in Cologne, arrival approx. 17 h in Cologne

Meeting point: at 8:45 at the Conference Venue (in front of the “Hörsaalgebäude”, Albertus-Magnus-Platz)

Price: € 40

Number of participants: max. 25; min. 10

Requirements: Outdoor shoes; you don't have to be particularly fit.

Description:

An excursion by bus to a selection of neotectonic highlights between the Eifel low mountain range and the Lower Rhine Graben near Aachen. Outcrops and geomorphological sites across active faults will demonstrate the ongoing evolution of the Lower Rhine Graben.

Field Trip 2: Braunkohlentagebau und -Kraftwerk

Date: Friday, 16.09.2022;

Time: Departure at 9 h in Cologne, arrival approx. 17 h in Cologne

Meeting point: at 8:45 at the Conference Venue (in front of the “Hörsaalgebäude”, Albertus-Magnus-Platz)

Price: € 40

Number of participants: max. 25; min. 10

Requirements: Outdoor shoes; Not suitable for people with pacemakers and implants with metal.

Lunch at the canteen of Kraftwerk Neurath optional

Field Trip 3: Exhibition “Abbild und Verwandlung – Petrografiken von Michael Raith”

Date: Friday, 16.09.2022;

Time: Departure at 9 h in Cologne, arrival approx. 14 h in Cologne

Meeting point: at 9:00 at the KVB-Tram Stop Barbarossaplatz, “Gleis 3”.

All participants will use the train 16 to the Museum König in Bonn. Tickets will be handed out at the meeting point.

Price: € 20
